Cultivating collaboration
CONVENING
Each year, the Network hosts bi-annual convenings, one virtually, and one in-person. Our Fall Convening is typically in-person, co-hosted by the Institute for Transformational and Ecosystem-based Climate Adaptation (ITECA) at the University at Albany. The Convening provides a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen professional relationships, and explore emerging research, policies, and on-the-ground adaptation strategies. Through keynote presentations, interactive workshops, panel discussions, tool demo sessions and field experiences, participants connect across sectors and regions to share lessons learned, deepen collaboration, and inform policy.
In our post event survey from 2025,
- 100% of respondents said they were sharing a new tool or resources with others as a result of the convening
- 25% said they were developing a partnership with a new organization based on connections they had made at the event.
Our Spring Convening happens virtually and typically focuses on updates and learning, frequently spotlighting news changes and opportunities happening at the State and bringing in a keynote speaker.
LEARNING NETWORK
The Practitioners Network centers peer-learning and co-learning to advance the practice of climate adaptation. We host Lunch & Learns which spotlight programs by members of the Network or topics informed by external expertise to help disseminate lessons learned across geographies and disciplines. Annual learning goals of Network members drive the agenda for these Lunch & Learns and our convenings, allowing these statewide lessons to intertwine, spark new collaboration, and strengthen outcomes.
