THE NETWORK

The New York State Adaptation Practitioners network brings together non-profit climate practitioners with New York State agencies in the following ways:

Learning Network

The NYS Adaptation Practitioner’s Network hosts monthly lunchtime sessions for collaborative learning and idea exchange. These sessions encompass expert presentations on various topics such as: climate adaptation communication, managing heavy rainfall in New York State, workforce development and collaborative problem-solving to address obstacles to climate adaptation in New York State.

contributing to state policy

The Practitioners Network embeds members from over six state agencies allowing us to provide early and influential input on adaptation policy implementation on measures such as the 2022 Environmental Bond Act and Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. Additionally, the network is well oriented with state tools and planning on adaptation.

SHARING BEST PRACTICES

The network envisions investing in climate infrastructure that utilizes natural and built systems that allow our communities and ecosystems to function in the face of future conditions while protecting and prioritizing the needs of vulnerable people and places. We work towards ensuring that New York State equitably adapts to climate change through a collaborative process with communities that maximize co-benefits and designs for long term climate predictions.
