HURRICANE SANDY DESIGN COMPETITION RESEARCH STAGE

During the Rebuild By Design Hurricane Sandy Design Competition, New York University’s Institute for Public Knowledge along with its Research Advisory Group directed more than 200 members of 10 design teams through a series of site visits, lectures, symposia, critiques, and community events that addressed issues at the heart of the competition, including governance, ecology, equity, data analysis, and planning. In addition, each team conducted its own regional analysis to determine a directive for design intervention strategies towards improving resilience.
