At last week’s Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting, the design team and the NYS Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR), presented an update on the Tottenville Shoreline Protection Project and Living Breakwaters project. The latest data collection efforts – including a time-lapse video of the shoreline, analysis of the water levels on site, hydrodynamic modeling and ecological design progress – were shown to the CAC in order to solicit feedback on the design direction and keep the public up to date.
During the second half of the meeting, participants broke into groups for a close-up look at site plans, renderings, maps, and an interactive breakwater visualization tool that the design team developed. The SCAPE team uses these materials to shape the project and integrate public feedback, helping to create consensus and allow for accessible ways of interacting with the project. In the coming months, SCAPE will continue to refine the breakwater design with the concerns of the community in mind, in tandem with the Tottenville Shoreline Protection Project’s efforts onshore. The CAC will reconvene during the summer. Learn more»
