Healthy Forests Initiative GRANT
ARIZONA (STATEWIDE)
Category: Fund
Year: 2020
Funding: Funded through various federal and state sources, including $30 million from The U.S. Department of the Interior and the Forest Service.
BACKGROUND
The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management’s Arizona Healthy Forest Initiative Grant Program responds to increasingly frequent and intense wildfires that pose a risk to communities, ecosystems, and our air. With federal support from the U.S. Forest Service and FEMA, funding is allocated for forest health projects that reduce the risk of wildfire, increase public safety, protect critical infrastructure, and improve forest health and watershed conditions in the wildland-urban interface and open spaces throughout Arizona. Investment in wildfire prevention and forest health is critical in addressing wildfire risks, bolstering ecosystem resilience, and saving lives and livehoods.
