New York City has committed an additional $26 million to the Hunts Point Resiliency Project, for a $71 million total budget. The additional funds will address community concerns regarding the initial plan to use combustion turbine engines to generate backup electricity for the Food Distribution Center. The City now plans a combined heat and power microgrid that both generates electricity and redirects waste heat into heating and cooling portions of the center. The City’s amended action plan for the project is available for public comment and is the subject of a hearing scheduled for Thursday evening, October 4th. Learn more>>
