MEADOWLANDS OCTOBER 2017 UPDATE

The Meadowlands Citizen Advisory Group reviewed a comprehensive flood risk reduction proposal that will address flooding from rain events and a major storm surge. The proposal includes various types of infrastructure to reduce the impact of storm surges from the Hackensack River which will bring community benefits and enhance the ecology by creating a resilient park, and strategically placed drainage improvements help rainwater drain faster. The Project Team proposed a multi-phased approach that includes both a “build plan,” which could be implemented by 2022, and a “future plan,” which could be implemented later. The Project Team will present its recommended alternative, based on further analysis this December.
