LONG ISLAND, AUGUST UPDATE

Funding and design took center stage at this month’s Citizens Advisory Committee (CAG) for the Living with the Bay Project. The Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR) announced the six finalists for implementation of the project’s social resilience dimension, which will address educational and recreational components, job training, and continuing education opportunities that tie to the project. Residents brought their local knowledge and experience to GOSR’s efforts by identifying opportunities (i.e. recreation, job creation, citizen science, etc) for each of the social resilience components. For more information about the finalists you can view GOSR’s presentation

Additionally, the Living with the Bay project team was introduced to the CAG members and residents. The team spent the summer finalizing the project’s elements with each of the six municipalities and the New York State Parks Department. That work will enable the project to move into design development for the entire project area, from the Town of Hempstead in the north to Bay County Park in the south. Learn more>>
