S.I. Live – If you’ve noticed some cranes and rock structures in the waters off the Tottenville coast, you’ve been looking at a multi-million dollar environmental project designed improve Staten Island’s storm resiliency as well as create habitats for marine life.
The cranes, excavators and stone structures are part of the “Living Breakwaters” project, a $107 million effort launched in late 2021 which aims to blunt the destructive power of waves during extreme weather events. Read more>>
