Staten Island Advance — The Living Breakwaters are in the final stretch of its $114 million project — and kayakers recently got to find out just how effective they really are.

On May 19, around 30 people gathered to chat and ‘yak on the rocky beach of Conference House Park down Page Avenue. The event, hosted by the City Planning Department, SCAPE Landscape Architecture, and the New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s Office of Resilient Homes and Communities, was a part of their 5/20 celebration.
