ARIZONA - Healthy Forests Initiative
BACKGROUND
Due to increasingly frequent and intense wildfires that pose a risk to communities, ecosystems, and air, The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM), with federal support from the U.S. Forest Service and FEMA, have created the Arizona Forest Action Plan. Funding is allocated for forest health projects aimed at reducing the risk of wildfire, increasing public safety, protecting critical infrastructure, and improving forest health and watershed conditions in the Wildland Urban Interface and open spaces throughout Arizona. Investment in wildfire prevention and forest health is critical in addressing wildfire risks and bolstering ecosystem resilience.
