Increased climate risks like flooding, wildfire, and drought have necessitated investments in resilient transportation infrastructure. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) developed a comprehensive Resilience Program to address the growing challenges of extreme weather and climate change. By integrating risk analysis, science, and engineering, the program shifts from a traditional, project-based approach to a holistic, enterprise-wide strategy that incorporates climate adaptation into long-term planning, asset management, and engineering design.
