BACKGROUND

To address recurrent flooding and habitat loss for endangered species, Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services and the Johnson Creek Watershed Council created Johnson Creek Watershed Restoration, a collaborative effort to improve water quality and habitat for fish and wildlife. This restoration project mitigates urban flooding and improves endangered species habitats while creating green spaces for local communities. The project balances urban flood management with ecological restoration, enhancing resilience and biodiversity.
