BACKGROUND

Everglades Restoration is a large-scale water restoration project to restore, preserve, and protect the South Florida ecosystem while providing for other water-related needs of the region, including water supply and flood protection. This project is spearheaded by federal and state agencies under the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) and will mitigate flooding and support biodiversity by restoring the natural flow of water disrupted by human development.
