UPCOMING EVENTS
What should Mamdani know about how flooding affects affordability?
It’s time to talk about flooding, affordability, and NYC’s future. We’re excited to launch “Affordability and Climate in NYC,” a monthly discussion series identifying what Mayor Zohran Mamdani needs to know about the intersection of affordability and climate.
We’ll hear directly from New Yorkers on the front lines, national experts, and policymakers to discuss housing, engagement, and neighborhood solutions. We’re asking: What should NYC’s new administration know… and what are the quick wins?
This event series is brought to you in partnership by Rebuild by Design, Rainproof NYC, The City Sponge, and the Waterfront Alliance, with support from Con Edison.
NYC has been hit with record-breaking heavy rain. What happens when New Yorkers decide to tackle our new reality head-on?
Join us on April 29th to celebrate 10 extraordinary partners taking local action to “rainproof” their communities. Over the past year, partners from across New York City’s five boroughs have led community-driven projects – learning together as a cohort while bringing Rainproof NYC’s ideas to life in their neighborhoods.
From public murals to renter-focused AI tools to live performances, these projects show how creative, locally rooted solutions are already shaping a more rain-ready city. Join us to learn from their work and mark this milestone together.
When: 5 -8 PM | Wednesday, April 29, 2026
Where: In-Person | One Architecture and Urbanism, 35 East Broadway, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10002
What is community wealth-building? Does climate adaptation offer New Yorkers an opportunity to reimagine ownership of local assets?
Community land trusts (CLTs) and cooperative ownership models are gaining ground in New York City. Join us to hear how economic justice and climate justice are inextricably linked, and what solutions the Mamdani Administration can support to keep communities both affordable and safe from the impacts of climate change.
Join us for a free community discussion series on flood preparedness in Brooklyn.
Through storytelling, art, and shared expertise, we’re bringing neighbors together to navigate the realities of flooding and climate change — and take action.
