Andrew Lewis is an Assistant Research Scientist and Project Manager at Rebuild by Design, supporting research, strategy, community, and government outreach nationwide, with a focus on New Jersey.
Lewis has been studying the impacts of climate change on communities and government planning since 2012, when he began reporting on the impacts of Superstorm Sandy in New York and New Jersey for his book, The Drowning of Money Island. Since 2020, Lewis has covered climate and the environment as a feature writer for The New York Times Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, NJ Spotlight News, and other publications.
He holds a M.F.A. in Nonfiction Writing from Columbia University. He is committed to bridging the divide between overlooked and overburdened communities and the governments representing them, and to helping shape smart, resilient infrastructure policy.
