Joing the The Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery for a public hearing on the Living Breakwaters Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). The DEIS is a comprehensive document that explains why the project is needed, describes the alternatives that are being considered, including the recommended design option, and evaluates the project’s potential impacts. In this case, the recommended option is the construction of the Living Breakwaters Project (Breakwaters Project) and Tottenville Shoreline Protection Project (Shoreline Project).
The full DEIS is available on the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR) website here. Public comment will be open for 45 days (until May 8th, 2017). Comment can be received in writing or at the public hearing; details on how to provide comment can be found on the on the website. Details, information and news on the Living Breakwaters Project can always be found on the project website, or at the project exhibit at the Conference House Park Visitors Center.
