STATEN ISLAND HEARS PLAN FOR FLOATING WATER HUB

During a Citizens Advisory Committee meeting, the Living Breakwaters Project Team announced that the project’s final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) is expected to be published by April and that 60% design is completed. As a result of community feedback, the Water Hub is now proposed as a floating hub with classroom and event space. It will be docked in existing marinas, and will bring community residents and students directly to the breakwaters. The project team also reported that breakwater performance testing found that with a 1:20 physical model of the breakwaters in a wave tank, waves over seven feet tall caused almost no movement of rock. Check out the full presentation here>>
